Organic/Bio While Andera Franchetti grew to love and master Etna's native red grape, Nerello Mascalese, he never found the charm or potential in its white varietals. So he planted Chardonnay which he hoped would thrive in the unfertile, volcanic ash and sand, soils of Etna's north slope. Some 15 years later, these vines have fully come into their own, creating a wine that's unmistakably of its place and still a classic expression of Chardonnay.

"The 2022 Passobianco wafts up with a pretty and lifted air of wildflowers, chalk dust and a gentle tinge of spice. This opens with a lovely inner sweetness and ripe orchard fruits as traces of salty minerals and a bump of brisk acidity add balance. It tapers off long and potent, with a lingering confectionery note contrasted by a saline tinge."
