You’d have something full of crunchy blackberry and plum fruit and blossoms with that savory, meaty, thing that makes Northern Rhone reds so delicious. And a mouthfeel that feels substantial but still light and fresh. Or, instead of imagining, just taste this Gamay from granite soils at the southern tip of the Loire Valley. We love it best served at just above cellar temp and with a little time open and with anything from spicy sausages to earthy lentil and bean dishes or even ripe cheeses. Truly delightful.
For You If: You like Beaujolais and are looking for a more savory twist; you enjoy Northern Rhone Syrah and needs something with more cheerful fruit; you enjoy Loire Valley reds and want to try a new one; you just want to be happy enjoying a deeply authentic and tasty wine!
Not For You If: This is definitely “Old World” wine, meaning fruit flavors are only part of ensemble and not the star, so if you’re after something soft and fruity like a California red blend, this isn’t that.
