Easter comes up next weekend, which means we know many of you have lamb and/or ham on your menu plan. Along with plenty of other springy treats and maybe, just maybe, a chocolate rabbit or two. You're on your own for wine pairing with Easter candy, but this weekend's tastings feature great wines to enjoy with the rest of the weekend's celebrations. And with springtime weather in general. At Friday's free tasting we have a terrific set of Easter/spring-friendly wines for you to try, including two from the Meursault/Languedoc collaboration, Boyer de Bar. Joint us from 3-7pm Friday to sample: Montenidoli Canaiuolo Rosato Toscana 2023 - From Tuscany, this is luscious and pure with ripe strawberry fruit with accents of orange zest and salty minerals. The big mouthfeel makes this as satisfying as a light red wine, but the dry, fresh, finish with juicy salty berry fruit is pretty much the essence of rosé. Boyer De Bar Savignon Blanc La Glaciere 2023 - Mersault’s Vincent Boyer and Languedoc’s Emmanuel Lucas de Bar create this elegant, lightly citrusy, and wonderfully textured Sauvignon that invites drinking with or without food. Boyer De Bar Coteaux Bourguignons Les Grandes Gouttes 2022 - From vines just outside Meursault, the 100% Pinot Noir has lovely clarity and perfume of griotte cherries and wildflowers, pretty fruit flavors and a crisp, dry, finish that lingers nicely. Casa Castillo Monastrell Jumilla 2021 - The grape they call Monastrell in France is native here and gives a wine at once nicely powerful/rich and very fresh and drinkable. The fruit flows with a wild herb and earth base note that will sing with lamb. City Limits Red Blend Detour 2022 - 85% Merlot with Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon from the Columbia Valley As Wine Enthusiast says in the 90 point review, “Raspberry and strawberry aromas dominate, with pine wood and chalkboard dust notes hovering around the edges. A blackberry scone and dark chocolate flavor combination is a winning one.” With the wines, a bit of fromage luxury: Grafton Village Cheese Truffle Cheddar. You love cheddar. You love truffle. You'll LOVE this! In fact, you'll love the whole tasting, but only if you join us from 3-7pm on Friday. Grab some friends and come on down! |
