Description of Tasting: |
![]() |
Around 30 years ago, Doug Margerum joined with other “Rhone Ranger” pioneers to explore the potential of Santa Barbara and California’s Central Cost to make great American wines from classic French Rhone varietals. And he’s still at it today, creating wines at once bold/rich – like their French counterparts – and with true elegance and restraint. In an era where southern Rhone growers struggle to ripen Grenache at under 16%, Doug’s wines are a joy to drink, loaded with body and texture and fruit while still having the structure to refresh and enjoy with food. You can taste the quality of his 30 years of work yourself when you join us and Margerum Wine Copmany’s Brooks Van Wingerden for one of three 45-minute tastings on Thursday, May 1 from 5-7:15pm. We'll showcase a nice range of Doug's wines, including: Margerum Riviera Rose And at least one of Doug's award-winning, single-vineyard, Syrahs as well. The tasting will take place around the upstairs tasting table in three 45-minute long sessions. There’s no fee, but please RSVP so we can keep the group size manageable. Come ride the Rhone Ranger experience with us and Margerum Wine Company! |
