Description of Tasting:

The two "headline" reasons to drop by the shop for this Friday's free tasting: a stunning 94-point Willamette Valley Pinot from $29.98 and a very luxurious Chassagne-Montrachet that really shined at last week's Lamy-Pillot special tasting.  And the bonuses: the new vintage of our favorite Austrian rose, a salty white for Albarino fans and delicious Cotes du Rhone that will be prefect with spring lamb.  Join us Friday from 3-7pm and get to know:

Steininger Rose of Cabernet Sauvignon 2024 – Wonderfully crisp, fresh and dry, this is redolent of red currants and wild strawberries with a perfect dusting of herb and spice. Irresistible.

Fontanavecchia Coda di Volpe Sannio 2023 - “Italian Albarino” was our first thought on tasting this very modern, salty, minerally, version of a very ancient Italian white grape. Zesty and fun.

Lamy-Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet Village 2022 - Glorious Burgundy Chardonnay that perfectly balances the richness of the vintage and Chassagne with vibrant minerality and zest.

Patricia Green Pinot Noir Chehalem Mtn Vyd 2022 - As Jeb Dunnuck says in the 94 point review, this is "perfumed and floral on the nose, with fresh notes of ripe black raspberries, violets, sweet sage, fresh earth, and a hint of umami. The palate has a lot of purity and a crystalline, ripe feel, with a hint of delicate richness coming through.” In short, it’s delicious. From $29.98, a steal.

Dom de L'Amauve Segueret CdR Villages Cuvee Laurences 2021 - A big mouthful of a name matches the big mouthful of wine you’ll enjoy in this robust Grenache/Syrah southern Rhone blend. A terrific Easter/springtime red!

With the wines, two different cheeses, both perfect for spring.  Capriole Sofia may come from Indiana, but it sure tastes like the essence of France's Loire Valley! It's a tangy goat cheese that ships just two weeks after the goats are milked and gets a little more dense and creamy to match the savory ash flavors as it goes. And, also from Capriole, Piper's Pyramide brings that same fresh goat cheese tang with a line of smoked paprika through the core. You can try them both with the wines this Friday from 3-7pm!
