Right Bank Bordeaux Dinner with Stephane Defot at La Cote d'Or

Join us for a festive mid-July feast as we tour the wines and flavors of Bordeaux’s “Right Bank” – the clay/limestone soils to the east of the river Gironde and home to the charming city of Saint Emilion and world-famous plateau of Pomerol.  Our wine guide with be Stephane Defot, founder/owner of importer Z Wine Gallery (say it fast with a French accent – you’ll get the joke). And the meal comes from Chef Jacques Imperato with each course created to pair perfectly with each wine you’ll try.

We’ll enjoy five wines ranging from a refreshing summer sipper white to elegant Pomerol and two “Grand Cru” Saint Emilion reds.  And finish with a look at how Bordeaux is changing as we taste an innovative Saint Emilion red aged in clay amphore – like the Greeks used – instead of barrel.  And with the five wines, five delicious courses:

You’ll love the wines and food as Stephane shares the story of each estate and Chef Jacques explains his approach to building a dish to match each wine.  And after this tasty exploration of Bordeaux’s Right Bank, you’ll be ready to explore Bordeaux’s Cabernet Country, the Left Bank, at a dinner to come this fall!

La Cote d’Or Restaurant is located at 6876 Langston Blvd. Arlington, VA 22213, just off Rt. 66 and within walking distance of the East Falls Church Metro station.  Parking is available next to the restaurant in the motel lot (ignore the signs – you can park anywhere!).  Dress is casual but the evening will be serious fun.
