If you’ve been around the Washington, DC, wine world a bit, you’ve almost certainly met Rob. With so much energy, great stories and good cheer on display, you might miss that he’s got a great palate, too. And knows how to put together a delicious tasting that ranges the world of wine flavors while still hanging together. Like this line-up he’ll be sharing Saturday: Dom La Croix Gratiot Picpoul De Pinet 2023 – A snappy fresh seafood white from just inland of the Nantes oyster beds in Languedoc. Ver Sacrum White Blend Uco Valley Geisha De Jade 2023 – A 50/50 blend of Marsanne and Roussanne giving wild aromas and flavors - peach, green apple, hazelnut and cashew – with a richly creamy texture that turns more lean and focused through a very long, minerally and mouthwatering finish. Cantina del Pino Dolcetto d’Alba 2023 – I don’t think anyone makes prettier Piemonte wines than Franca Vacca. With normally sturdy/gutsy Dolecttto, she crafts something wonderfully fluid and silky that still stands up to salami and cheese. Jean Marc Burgaud Morgon Cote du Py 2023 – If you know the name, this wine alone is reason enough to come taste. The master of Morgon working in the Cru’s finest vineyard turns out another 93-95 point beauty. White Rock Cabernet Sauvignon Napa 2021 – From their perch up Soda Canyon, the folks at White Rock do things their own way – meaning the “old” way of picking fruit ripe (not overripe) and shaping (vs cloaking) their wines with oak. A lovely example. As always all the wines will be on sale during the tasting and Jose will continue tasting out our blue cheese and cherry combo while both last. A lovely way to spend a little time with wine-loving neighbors and friends this Saturday! |
