Description of Tasting:

We’re not trying to build our weekend tastings around grapes and places you’ve never experienced before. But as we hunt for exciting wines at great value prices, that’s where we keep finding ourselves this summer. Along with a great value Cotes du Rhone, join us to taste Friday from 3-7 and get to know Loin de L’Oeiol, Gaglioppo, Picpoul and Pelaverga wines.  The line-up:

Antonio Scala Ciro Rosato 2024 - A different kind of pink that gets to the perfect level of rosé refreshment via a different route. 100% Gaglioppo and redolent of tart cherry and watermelon with an iron filings minerality and lip smacking, dry, finish.

La Croix Graitot Picpoul de Pinet 2023 – This just may be the most perfect oyster/seafood white in the shop. Crisp and fresh with excellent fruit and a sipping-and-food-friendly finish.

Dom Philemon Gaillac Perle Nature 2023 - There’s a touch of spritz to this traditional Loin de L’Oeiol Gaillac white, but it drinks more like a summer white Rhone than a sparkler. Sweet apple, white stone fruit, a bit of Meyer lemon and garrigue all weave in and out on the palate before finishing fresh and easy.

Castello Di Verduno Pelaverga Basadone 2022 - No, we’d never heard of Pelaverga either. It’s an old grape from the Barolo region that today is still hanging on here and there in the hills to the north. Bright, fun and kind of sophisticated.

Dom Grand Veneur Cotes du Rhone 2022 - A terrific Cotes du Rhone packed with dark, chocolatey, fruit rolling along the smooth texture and just-right freshness at the end. Pizza, burgers, lamb - this one does it all for a song!

With Labor Day just around the corner, perhaps you’re starting to think about what you’ll eat? Whether you need an accompaniment to steak, something to spice up a salad or sandwich, or the perfect finishing touch to a hot dog, you’ll want to have some Edmond Fallot Dijon Mustard on hand. We'll be sampling out two varieties. First a tarragon mustard that is delicious as a veggie dip and in a cream sauce for fish or chicken.  Then a walnut version flavored with ground walnuts from Périgord, France. Just spread it on something savory and enjoy!

Great flavors, great values – sure sounds like a great time to visit Chain Bridge Cellars from 3-7pm Friday!
