Lower ABV A great introduction to the high-texture, low fruit and low ABV wines the Jacquere grape gives in the French Alpine vineyards of Savoie. Sixth generation winegrower Eugene Carrel manages vineyards planted in the 14th Century, sites that rise up the Alps in a way that gives them 2-3 hours more sunlight per day than most other local sites. There’s excellent concentration and focus to the crunchy pear, tangy stone fruit and zippy citrus fruit and plenty of chalky, salty, minerality on the nicely biting finish. A touch of wild mountain herb adds complexity.
For You If: You want to be transported to the French Alps, sitting in front of a fire (in winter) or on the deck (summer) and toasting the sunset; you're after a great match for raclette and fondue.
Not For You If: You're after a lot of fruit flavors or the taste of oak - this is all about minerality and savory mountain herbs and flowers.
