What happens when you grow Southern Rhone grapes that are used to sunny heat along the southwestern coast of South Africa where they are constantly chilled by cold ocean breezes? Something pretty delicious! There’s lots of rich texture here and sweet spice to match the crunchy red berry fruit. Fresh and smooth on the finish, it makes a great food companion and a very drinkable solo sipper, especially with a light chill.
For You If: You enjoy the flavors of a rich red with the texture and refreshment of a really good Provencal rosé; you’re after a terrific picnic red to throw in the cooler with the egg salad and open with a twist of the screwcap!
Not For You If: You’re looking for “hearty” or heavy – there’s plenty of substance here, but this drinks lighter than a traditional Southern Rhone red.
