Precise, toasty, sexy. James Suckling's 95 point review tells the tale here: " This a special bottling of 1.2 to 1.5 kilos of grapes per vine, all chardonnay vinified separately, having calculated the perfect kilo-per-vine balance in Oger, Mesic and Avise. Very agile, with brioche and hints of pie crust, together with dried apple, lemon and limestone. Fine bubbles, a creamy texture and a dry finish. Between 4,000 and 5,000 bottles made. 6 years on the lees."
For You If: You want the tete de cuvee quality the big houses deliver for $100-$150 less; you're looking for Champagne that will have everyone oohing and ahing all night long.
Not For You If: You just have to have a famous name on the front of your luxury Champagne and are willing to pay an extra $100 for it - hey, sometimes you need it to say "Dom" on the label, but buy this instead if what you care about is enjoying great Champagne tonight.
