Organic/Bio Lower ABV If you like Gamay, Dolcetto or Pais (Mission), then Prieto Picudo is for you! It's the historic grape of the plains of Leon and Pedro Gonzalez Mittelbrunn is leading the charge to bring it back from near extinction. This is from a mixture of vines ranging 20 to 100+ years of age, with the old vines trained "Rasta" - lying flat on the ground. It's plump and fleshy feeling, loaded with direct blackberry and black cherry fruit, accented with notes of rich earth and smoke, and feels fleshy and ripe at just 13.0% alcohol. No oak, natural yeast, organic farming, tons of satisfying pleasure. Another winner from importer Mary Taylor!
For You If: You're in the mood for a classic French bistro wine that tastes decisively of Spain; you're looking for a great all-purpose weeknight red you can pair up with pretty much anything you want to eat.
Not For You If: The "flavors of Spain" you most like are super-ripe fruit or oak - this is generously fruited, but it's fresh and 100% oak free.
