The only thing "special" about this Cotes du Rhone is how much fun it is to drink. It's Grenache and Syrah done in tank by the Les Vignobles Foncalieu co-op, one of the biggest in France with 1,000+ growers and 20 appellations. Here they turn out a wine of generous black raspberry fruit, a touch of earthy savoriness, and a sprinkle of cracked black pepper. Not too big, certainly not thin, and finishing with easygoing tannins, it's tasty and a fine value.
For You If: You just want a nice glass of robust French Rhone wine with your grilled sausages, pizza, or burger that you can sip on solo before or after your meal as well.
Not For You If: You're looking for something conversation-worthy - a wine to drink, not talk about.
