Most “made for a distributor” wines are pretty ho-hum, but this super rich bland of Syrah (50%), Cabernet Sauvignon (30%) and Malbec from Mendoza is really well done.  The ripe blackberry and redcurrant fruit is really in your face and nicely balanced by a touch of something minerally, a bit of cocao powder, and fine-grained tannins.  The juicy/rich play is pretty fun as is the dusting of oak spice. Fine cookout red value.

For You If:  You (or your guests) want the super-ripe, bold, fruit of a typical “red blend” bottling but not the residual sugar those often use to hide under-ripe fruit; you’re after a crowd-pleasing red that tastes more impressive than the price-point; you’re curious about Mendoza beyond Malbec.

Not For You If:  You’re looking for sophistication and subtlety;  when you say you want a “dry red” you mean one that’s not full of fruit and/or is bitingly tannic.
