Zenato goes after the richer, deeper, even more full-bodied style of Amarone (made from air-dried grapes) and delivers that with style in 2019. As Suckling says in the 95 point review, "Very complex nose of bay leaves, dried prunes and blackberry jam, enhanced with leather and a bit of restrained chocolate. Velvety tannins flow on the palate, with a full body, zesty and cleansing acidity and a savory finish of toasted black pepper and chocolate."
For You If: You're after powerhouse Amarone that makes a huge impression; you're looking for a red to stand up to super-rich stews or, even better, a fine cheese course at the end of a satisfying meal.
Not For You If: You're after delicacy or finesse - this is 16.5% alcohol, barrel aged and spiced, super-intense stuff.
