Description of Tasting: |
If you're just getting into Italy's most prestigious wine, Barolo, you might find it a little intimidating. How long does it need to age? To air out in decanter? What do I serve with it? Relax. Because as one of Barolo's oldest producers says, "Every moment is right for drinking Barolo!" As you'll discover for yourself when you come meet and taste with Stefano from Borgogno on Tuesday, September 26. No fee for this special Winemaker Spotlight - just reserve your spot at any of the five 30-minute tasting sessions online now. Making Barolo wines since 1761, the Borgogno family has evolved way past the hype that surrounds Barolo today. Over the past 30 years, this winery has re-embraced the old way of making Barbera and Nebbiolo, farming organically, fermenting naturally in cement tank and allowing the wines to round out slowly over 2-3 years in large Slavonian oak casks. And they've innovated just a bit by joining the resurrection of the historic Piemonte white grape Timorasso - a new wine that's as full of history as flavor. Stefano will share the winery's history, a bit about the region, and five terrific wines: Borgogno Timorasso Colli Tortonesi Derthona 2021 As usual there’s no charge for our Producer Spotlight tastings held upstairs around the tasting table, but we do ask that you reserve one of the five 30 minute sessions from 5:00pm to 7:30pm so we can make sure everyone has plenty of time to enjoy and appreciate the wines. By the time your tasting is done, you'll be ready to join Borgogne and affirm, "Every moment is right for drinking Barolo!"! |
