Organic/Bio There’s something joyfully incongruous about a bearded outdoors guy who wears flannel, farms his vineyard with horses, chickens, sheep, geese and (his own) children, and waxes on passionately about the quality of his dirt and the bugs living there making a wine called “Luxuria.” But the "luxury" here comes not from winegrower Stephen Hagen, but from two small slices at the bottom of his vineyard that have decided to do their own thing. In the small "DMC" and "LaRock" sections of the vineyards, the Pommard and Dijon 777 clones of Pinot Noir Stephen planted have decided to abandon their clonal character and all merge into an expression of these two small slices of land. Where the rest of the vineyard wants to talk about tropical/citric acidity, minerality, vigor and zest, the vines in these blocks don ermine and velvet and embrace richness and, well, luxury!

The fruit here is gloriously dark and deep and is wrapped in aromas and flavors of exotic spice, incense, rose petals and more. And the mouth feel is velvety, broad, and luscious, with the ripe, spiced, fruit completely enveloping and coating your palate. But there's also plenty of enlivening acidity and super-fine, smooth, mouthwatering tannins here for balance. It's just that the structure folds seamlessly into the juicy, luxurious, fruit. This is insanely easy to drink right now, which means you may well struggle to hold some through 2026 when it will be better still. 400 cases made.

For You If:   “Luxurious” Pinot Noir sounds appealing – this delivers on that promise!

Not For You If:   You’re after light, fresh and/or delicate Pinot Noir – this is pretty robust, if perfectly balanced.
