An old domaine (founded 1847) that has established itself with a place in the Champagne elite under the leadership of Raphael and Vincent Bereche. A delicious introduction to their work, this is a blend of equal part both Pinots and Chardonnay, 70% from vintage 2022 and the rest from reserves. This wine always somehow blends elegance and breadth with loads of chalky minerality and purity. Easy enough to drink as an aperitif and serious enough for complex food or letting improve in cellar for a bit. As Antonio Galloni said a few years ago, "Although most readers probably associate Bérèche with some of their higher-end bottlings, the Brut Réserve is a real rock star."
For You If: You're in the mood for sophisticated, complex, Champagne that will still please a crowd.
Not For You If: You're after austere or tart Champagne - this is around 5 g/l dosage, so definitely dry, but also beautifully rounded and finessed.
