Brick & Mortar is really a California sparkling house, meaning they grow a lot of cool-climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. When Pinot gets a bit too ripe for fizz, it’s perfect for elegant, pure, juicy still wines like this one. Crunchy red berry and black cherry fruit get drive from zesty acids and volume from barrel aging and 13.5% alcohol. Finishes fine and firm but easy, with tailing earthy, brambly, raspberry fruit.
For You If: You enjoy the flavors of California Pinot but want something less fruity than, say, most Russian River wines; you’re looking for some herbal complexity; “subtle” describes your Pinot preference tonight.
Not For You If: You want the immediate pop of fruit found in most Cali Pinot; floral/herbal notes are not your thing.
