Cade’s Estate Cabernet shows Howell Mountain power and grip in a softer, more accessible, style. As Jeb Dunnuck says in his 93 point review, “The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain comes almost all from the estate on Howell Mountain and is 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Malbec, 5% Petit Verdot, and the rest Merlot. It has classic Howell Mountain style in its ripe blue fruits, violets, iron, and bouquet garni-like aromatics, and its medium to full-bodied, with a rich, mouth-filling texture and outstanding length. It has another 15 years of prime drinking ahead of it.”
For You If: You like the powerful, full-bodied, style of top Howell Mountain Cabernet but don’t want to have to cellar it for 5+ years or decant for two hours – this is delicious right out of the gate.
Not For You If: You’re after “smooth” Napa Cab – this is supple, but there’s plenty of tannic grip ready to nicely match a savory lamb chop or steak.

"The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is wonderfully alluring. The purity of the fruit is quite striking. Bold and creamy, with terrific depth, the 2021 is surprisingly accessible for a young Howell Mountain Cabernet. Succulent dark plum, mocha, spice, leather and menthol are front and center. Dollops of Malbec, Petit Verdot and Merlot add aromatic and flavor complexity."
