Pecorino was the dominant white grape in the Marche for hundreds of years before it dwindled post-phylloxera in favor of more productive vines. Thought to be extinct, a few plants were rediscovered in the 1980s and today it's thriving in the Marche, Abruzzo, Umbria and beyond.
Pecorino's secret power is to give a wine that is loaded with texture but still feels crisp and fresh. Here done all in steel, it's redolent of tangerine, Myer lemon and green peach aromas and flavors. The flavors are broad and intense midpalate before a squirt of green apple and lime and whiff of volcanic soil brings the whole thing to a dry, mouthwatering, nicely intense, finish. This will be great with cheeses, seafood, salads and sipping.
For You If: Dry, not-too-fruity, whites like Albarino, Muscadet and Savoie wines are your thing and you're in the mood for a bit more body and texture; you enjoy the texture of things like Pinot Grigio but want more seriously intense flavors.
Not For You If: You're after soft, fruity or oaky - this is more intense, tangy and steely.
