Lower ABV There’s something about the vineyards around Carcassonne in Languedoc that creates wonderfully fresh whites in this sunny, hot, spot. A bit of access to cooling breezes and a lot of limestone, to be specific. A touch of skin contact stands in for oak aging and lees contact to give richness of texture to the peach, apricot and yellow apple flavors. A hint of honeysuckle adds extra interest to the dry, clean, finish. A terrific value.
For You If: You’re looking for Chardonnay grape flavors without any masking oak; you want a great all-purpose food and sipping white that will please a crowd (and says “Chardonnay” on the label for guests who need that).
Not For You If: You’re looking for Sonoma Coast or Cote d’Or character – this is direct, nicely fruit-filled, and easy drinking fun.
