Lower ABV From old vines in one of the oldest named vineyards of Sancerre, this gets the full luxury treatment: old vines, organic and biodynamic farming, hand harvest, and fermentation and a full year’s aging in barrel. It’s all about texture – you’ll really feel it move through your mouth – with subtle yellow apple and Asian pear fruit and a nice bite of flint and pith at the end.
For You If: You’re looking for Sancerre that’s subtle and savory vs exuberant and fruity; you love the smoke and stone minerality of Sancerre and value palate and finish length; you want Sancerre done a bit like white Burgundy.
Not For You If: You love Sancerre first and foremost for the ripe citrus and stone fruit – time in barrel mutes that a bit in exchange for more smoky minerality.
