Organic/Bio From just south across the Rhone River from Chateauneuf du Pape, Lirac's sandier soils give a touch of elegance to the robust ripeness you expect here in the Southern Rhone. As Wine Advocate said when tasting this from barrel, "Aged in a mix of tanks (70%) and barrels (30%), the 2017 Clos de Sixte is a blend of 50% Grenache, 35% Syrah and 15% Mourvèdre. Hints of vanilla and licorice accent dark, cola-like notes and plummy fruit fruit in this full-bodied, plush, velvety-textured wine." Delicious right now, for sure, and improving for 3-5 years to come.
For You If: You're after a robust red to pair with North African or Provencal foods with just a touch of bottle development for extra complexity and interest.
Not For You If: You're looking for something light or smooth - while there's nothing hard/harsh here, it's a big wine with excellent grip.
