Organic/Bio Lower ABV While the most classic Picpoul de Pinet vineyards are planted on low-lying sandy sites, Anaïs Ricome's La Croix Graitot vines are on a chalky plateau offering the benefits of limestone soils and full exposure to cooling breezes from the nearby sea. Anaïs harvest in two passes, one early to maximize salty mineralty and acidity and one later for more flavor and breadth. Drawing on two harvests’ experience in New Zealand, her cool fermentation locks in both the mineralty and fruit flavor to create a uniquely expressive Picpoul de Pinet.
As Tamlyn Currin said of the 2019 edition in JancisRobinson.com, "Pure peaches and apricots: body, soul and mind. Saline runnels, samphire in the folds, but this wine is all about peaches and apricots and sea spray." A ton of wine for the money, it's a great choice for sushi, all kinds of shellfish, or just refreshing sipping on the back deck or at the beach.
For You If: You like super crisp, no-oak, lightly salty wines like Albarino, Muscadet and whites from Savoie; you're having oysters - nothing better than this for that!
Not For You If: You're looking for lots of texture and/or oak influence; a bit of snap on the finish isn't your thing.
