As you’d guess from the label, this is super-traditional Barbera picked ripe and juicy and aged just a brief time in large oak for a touch of structure.  Big aromas and flavors of crunch red and juicy black fruits gain complexity from notes of crushed violets, smoke and anise. Mouth-filling and mouthwatering, it’s a terrific match for all kinds of food from simple red sauce pasta to complex meat or game dishes.

For You If:   You like your mouth to tingle just a bit as bold fruit flavors crash to-and-fro across your palate; you’re after a great wine to cut through the richness of something cheesy like lasagna.

Not For You If:   You want a lot of mouth-drying and puckering tannins – this grape doesn’t do that unless it’s been done with lots of wood influence and that’s not the point here.
