The first vintage of Zeitgeist Cabernet we managed to pry out of Mark and Jen was the 2011.  This is the 180 degree opposite of that lean, pure, nervy Cab!  The vintage is a huge part of that story, but the vineyards matter as well.  Five very special sites come together here to provide 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc that’s full of Napa richness and character.  Lewelling Ranch in St. Helena, Farella in Coombsville, Rafael in Oak Knoll, Sleeping Lady in Yountville and the magnificent Oakville Station touching both To Kalon and Martha's Vineyards.

On first impression, this is a big, in your face, super lush, rich and fruit-filled Napa Cab with a just right spice from new French oak.  Well, on second and third impressions, too.  But as you work your way through glass #1 and move on to #2 and a bit of air loosens things up, you’ll realize that there’s impeccable balance and even freshness here as well.  Impressive, drinkable, ready now and ready to go 15 years in cellar and on sale at an unbeatable price. The “do not miss” Napa Cab of the year folks.

For You If:  You love $150 Napa Cab and hate the idea of spending that kind of money on a wine you just want to drink, share, enjoy.

Not For You If:   You’re looking for the tannic grip of Napa’s mountain wines like Howell Mountain or Mt. Veeder – this is more smooth, round, and approachable than that although it goes toe-to-toe with them on intensity and delight!

Jeb Dunnuck: 95 Points

"A smoking value, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley checks in as 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc that spent 20 months in 65% new French oak. There are roughly 2,000 cases of this beauty, which offers a great perfume of redcurrants, cassis, flowers, and some spicy, incense-like nuances. This carries to a medium to full-bodied 2021 that displays the vintage's pure, focused, elegant style, ripe tannins, and terrific mid-palate density. It will compete with wines twice its price and is perfect for drinking over the coming 10-15 years. If you see it, buy it."
