From Austria's Wagram region and two-time Austrian Winemaker of the Year Anton Bauer, this is 100% Pinot Noir, including the fragrant Dijon 777 clone so popular in top Willamette Valley wines, growing in a south-facing vineyard of loam over loess soils beneath the famed Hengstberg hill. Harvested by hand, sorted berry-by-berry using a high-tech optical sorter, the ripe fruit ferments in tank with just enough skin contact and then ages slowly over 16 months in a mixture of tank, large cask, and used French oak barrique. It’s loaded with ripe red cherry fruit that’s perfectly balanced by a dollop of smoky, earthy, spice. Ready to drink tonight solo or with any kind of casual party fare.
For You If: You’re looking for easy-drinking, lightly earthy, red to enjoy solo or with any food from planked salmon to chips and salsa.
Not For You If: You’re after the minerality of Burgundy or the fleshy weight of California Pinot – this is bright, juicy, and ready to party!
