Organic/Bio Winemaker Antonio Macanita works only with native grapes and sets the quality standard for Alentejo. In this sunny, warm, region he crafts this wonderfully fresh and juicy red from Aragonez (Tempranillo), Touriga Nacional and Alicante Bouschet in steel and French oak. Boatloads of dark, ripe, almost earthy fruit balanced by a juicy feel and firm, satisfyingly grippy, tannins at the end. A fun, fruit-filled, red for hearty food.
For You If: You like the big fruit flavors of Portuguese reds without obstructing oak or any dried/baked character; you drink Cotes du Rhone reds and want to try something similar in volume and fun but with a stronger blackberry fruit profile.
Not For You If: You’re after something that feels rich, velvety or smooth – this is has plenty of volume and heft, but feels fresh, juicy and finishes with a mouthwatering clinch.
