The old-vine specialists at Birichino go back to a 19th century vineyard with 100 year-old vines to create Mouredre that's full of dark fruit and earthy notes with a crisp, long, finish. Just 12.5% alcohol and 180 six-packs made. As Wine Enthusiast says in the 95 point rave, "From a vineyard that was first planted in 1895 near a long-dead mining town, this lively Mourvèdre shows fresh black raspberry, plum and hearty baking spice aromas on the nose. The palate is lively with acidity and zesty in white pepper, as raspberry flavor fill the core."
For You If: You like your wines full of tangy fruit and earthy spice and to finish with a snap; you're in the market for a truly brilliant pairing for lamb covered in herbs and cracked black pepper.
Not For You If: You like your wines full of rich fruit and big in body - the fruit here is crunchy/tangy and while the flavors are big, the wine is light and very pure.
