Once the most planted grape on Medeira, today Verdelho is limited to the harsh north coast of the island. As Neil Marting explains in Vinous, Verdelho "I admire Verdelho immensely. Like Sercial, it makes a startling and memorable aperitif, that acidic drive revivifying the palate for what is to follow; though it is less uncompromising than Sercial thanks to its tendency to produce dried honey aromas and flavors. I have encountered many Verdelho Madeiras over a century old with undiminished vitality and profound complexity."

"This is loaded with dried mango and apricot flavors, flanked by notes of cinnamon and allspice. Dry, with plenty of seductive smoky accents. The bright finish offers citrus zest, dried rosemary and sea salt hints.
