Lower ABV It’s always tempting to refer to Sauvignon Blanc from the eastern Loire Valley as coming from “near Sancerre” to take advantage of that brand. And Menetou-Salon really is not far from Sancerre, just under 30 minutes by car, and shares its Kimmeridgian limestone soils. But it’s really its own thing, as you’ll taste here in the super-ripe green melon, peach and lime zest fruit and big burst of dried and fresh wild herb. A fun honeysuckle note joins the crunchy peach fruit on the zesty, mouthwatering, finish. This is pretty irresistible cocktail Sauvignon Blanc and terrific match for a carmalized onion and goat cheese tart or seafood and a fruit salsa.
For You If: You love the flavors of juicy, ripe, citrus and melon, Sauvignon Blanc with a fine, crunchy, mouthwatering finish.
Not For You If: You want Sancerre – this is less minerally – or New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc- this is less grassy and over the top fruity.
