Imagine the saltiness of Albarino and the weight of a White Rhone and you'll have a good sense of what Petite Arvine is all about! This ancient grape originates from the Swiss Alps and still calls the Alps home thanks to its “Diva” nature when it comes to growing conditions. Luckily for us, The Charrere family has been making wine in the Aosta Valley for 6 generations and has a passion for selecting and nurturing grape varieties that may have otherwise been lost.
Similar to other Alpine whites, this is jammed pack with loads of texture. You’ll find big aromas of citrus, yellow plum, and orchard fruits. The finish has a burst of saltiness alongside an intense minerality that lingers on your palate. Pair it with raclette, seabass, tuna tartare, heck even skiing! Some examples of Petite Arvine can border nervy but the two months of lees aging help soften the wine and add to the fabulous texture. This all-purpose white can be enjoyed in all four seasons!
For Your If: You enjoy Alpine whites like Jacquere, or whites like Chablis and Verdicchio – you enjoy mineral driven whites or crave the saltiness from Albarino.
Not For You If: You prefer lower alcohol wines – you are after big whites with oak, this is done all in stainless steel.
