Matt Meyer is the son of Silver Oak founders Bonny and Justin Meyer, and this is from the Napa estate vineyard where Silver Oak first grew wine before moving its focus to Alexander Valley. As with Silver Oak, this is aged in new and used American oak, which works well with the more intense Napa fruit. As Wine Enthusiast says in the 91 point review, “This well-balanced and moderately tannic wine has an attractive savory slant, offering mint and green-olive aromas, maraschino cherry, cedar and black-olive flavors on a medium to full body.”
For You If: You like the extra mint and spice character American oak adds to Cabernet’s dark fruit but want it to be an accent, not the star.
Not For You If: You want your Napa Cab to be just about the fruit – there’s a lovely cedar/mint character here we think makes the fruit taste better still!
