Organic/Bio The Batacchi family makes gloriously traditional Chianti Classico and also one "fun" wine - this blend of 85% Sangiovese plus Merlot, Cabernet and Mavasia Nera that packs a pizza/pasta-friendly punch. The juicy, easygoing, black cherry fruit has enough Sangiovese tannin for support, but not so much as to get in the way of happy solo sipping. A great every night Italian red value here.
For You If: You're after the dark cherry fruit and zip of a good Chianti but don't want the grippy tannins or higher price.
Not For You If: You're after classic Chianti leather notes, wood spice and/or tannic grip - this is a fresher, more fruit-driven, take.
