As winemaker Jim Anderson writes, "This bottling allows us to be incredibly detailed about the barrels we select for our vineyard designated wines, so they true expressions of the site on a year in and year out basis. The Willamette Valley Pinot Noir bottling “Reserve” is almost entirely made up of barrels that simply were not included in a more prestigious bottling, which allows us to choose from larger sections of our diverse vineyards."
The 2022 edition is especially good, opening with bold scents of crushed raspberries, earth and rose petal. The mouthfeel is silky and seductive and the rich red fruit flavors pick up accents of cracked pepper and orange peel, all lifted by freshening acidity. The polished tannins keep the “silky” theme flowing through a generous, mouthwatering, finish. Ready right now and showing well for a decade (really!). An outstanding value.
For You If: You love great Willamette Valley Pinot Noir and want to get one for about $20 less than it would cost if it came from a hip, upstart, winery with no track record (and tastes better, too).
Not For You If: It’s hard to think of who wouldn’t like this unless Pinot just isn’t your thing – seriously good stuff here.
