Organic/Bio Although winemaker Jim Anderson hates to write tasting notes, his take on the 2023 Reserve is too good to not share! "The 2023 Willamette Valley Reserve Pinot Noir is, as always, a great indicator of what to expect from Patricia Green Cellars’ wines from the vintage. This is a very intense wine all the way around. The color is dark ruby and has a particular gleam to it that makes is seem like it shines. This is a darker, deeper and denser version than the very lovely and red-fruited 2022. Pomegranate, Chinese Five Spice, cassis and a sweet earthen quality form the complex aromatics. The palate responds equally with dense, sweet blackberries, licorice, red plums and red spices that are well-integrated and float on a finish of well-defined tannins.":
If none of that helps, we agree with his conclusiong: "In short, this wine is absurdly delicious to be an entry level Pinot Noir."
For You If: You like Jim's take on Willamette Valley Pinot - dark, spiced and richly flavored without any excess weight or overt oak; you're looking for something to drink with duck or salmon - this will rock!
Not For You If: You're after something really light or really thick - this walks the mid-point of that span perfectly.
