Loire Valley Cabernet Franc can be thin, green and smelling of Band-Aids. Or, in the hands of a good grower and in a nice vintage, it can be like this! Lovely redcurrant and black cherry fruit here with a nice dash of fresh herb that fades to a bare background note on the bold, redcurrant, finish. Plenty of rich texture and a juicy, finely tannic, finish make this really satisfying without food or with any bistro classic.
For You If: You like the aromas and flavors of Cabernet Franc with the fruit dialed up and green/herbal notes deep in the background; you enjoy a wine that feels close to velvety without a lot of weight or alcohol.
Not For You If: You’re looking for Napa-levels of fruit and body or overt wood character – this is full of fruit but definitely “Old World” in style.
