Organic/Bio As Wine Advocate wrote a few years ago, “Quintodecimo Irpinia Falanghina Via del Campo is the result of 20 years of research and experimentation, I am told.” Like Greco and Fiano, Falanghina came to Italy with Greek settlers, but it was the Romans that discovered it grew best when trained up wood poles called in Latin “falangae.” It thrives in Campania’s sunshine. Professor Mioro calls it “a northern grape” because it retains brisk, mouthwatering, acidity even as it ripens and develops texture and depth.
The most flavorful and open of the 2023 Quintodecimo whites, but with no less energy, vibrancy and cut. This pumps a lot of flavor across your palate – sweet lime skin, peach puree, grilled pineapple and more – but stays focused within its shelf of stony minerality. Pretty irresistible.
"The 2023 Via Del Campo is sweetly floral, blending chamomile and candied lime with peach sorbet. This shimmers on the palate, crystalline and remarkably fresh, with citrus-tinged green apple fruit and juicy acidity. It tapers off with admirable length and concentration, leaving a youthful tension and hints of green melon that linger on and on."
