The cool Momtazi vineyard near the Van Duzer Corridor always gives dark wines of remarkable freshness. Add in Mark Vlossak's signature velvet texture and you've got a beauty! As Vinous says in the 93 point review, "The 2019 Pinot Noir Momtazi Vineyard is dark and brooding, opening with an earthy blend of woodland berries, cedar shavings, wild herbs and cloves. This mixes sweet and sour sensations as ripe red berry fruits sweep across the palate in silken textures, contrasted by a tinge of sour citrus and saline minerals toward the close. It leaves a resonance of violet candies and edgy tannins to linger on, finishing with admirable length and a pleasantly chewy sensation."
For You If: You like dark-fruited Willamette Valley Pinot Noir with a touch of plushness to the texture and solid grip at the end; you want a Pinot you can drink with steak that won't weigh you down.
Not For You If: You're looking for "pretty" Pinot - this is pretty dark and serious without turning too muscular.
