Organic/Bio Lower ABV Always one of the best values in Willamette Valley Pinot, the Estate Old Vine bottling benefits in 2022 from frost damage that dropped yields to a ton per acre and a decision to put all of the best blocks of this Ribbon Ridge site into this one wine. Audrey Frick on Jeb Dunnuck’s site describes it well, “boasts a highly complex and layered nose of spiced cherries, lifted spice, rose petal perfume, iron-rich earth, and hibiscus. Medium-bodied and tension-packed at this stage, it’s linear and coiled with great energy. Long on the palate, it’s a ton of wine for the price.” The 95 point rating seems about right. Give this some air if you can now and then enjoy it unfurling over the evening or even days. A stunner.
For You If: You want to drink the kind of super-premium Pinot the new kids on the Oregon block only claim to offer in their $100+ bottles; you like Pinot Noir’s ability to deliver huge aroma, flavor and texture at just 12.8% alcohol.
Not For You If: You’re looking for something spiced with lots of new oak – just 5% new here.
