Organic/Bio Perhaps the finest vintage ever of this benchmark blend of Nerello from key sites across the north face of Etna. For the first time, Marc de Grazia and team were able to hold this in barrel for around 15 months – vs bottling before the new vintage barreled down – which has blasted the quality and complexity to new heights.
As Vinous says in the 92+ point review, “Bursts from the glass with a wild bouquet of cloves and incense, giving way to dried cherries and sage. This is silky-smooth, with cooling acidity lifting its dense core of ripe red berry fruits as crunchy mineral tones resonate throughout. The 2022 finishes impossibly long and staining yet only gently tannic, leaving a lovely air of lavender and cloves that echoes on.”
For You If: You love complex wines of spice, deep fruit and texture from places like Brunello di Montalcino, Chateauneuf du Pape, Paso Robles, etc; you’re looking for a wine to love know and for the next 6-8 years.
Not For You If: You’re in the mood for something light and/or juicy – this is powerful, textured and spicy.
