Organic/Bio Lower ABV Louis Schofield makes what you can call “natural wine” with just a touch of sulfur at bottling to make, as he says, “wine that is pure, vibrant, speaks of place and variety but most importantly is yum.” Like this very lively and alive blend of Touriga Naçional and Syrah. Bursting with real strawberry/cranberry fruit and a gush of watermelon from right down near the rind and finishes with sneakily persistent fruit flavors. It’s a bit early, but this is going to be the rosé of the summer this year, but only if you snap it up now – just 400 cases made and gone all too soon.
For You If: You enjoy rosé and are willing to move a little beyond the Provençal template to enjoy something snappier and with crunchy red berry fruit in place of stone fruit; you want snap, crackle and pop in your pink.
Not For You If: You need a classy looking package – the impact here is a little 70s psychedelic.
