You'd expect Toro Tempranillo to be dark, super-ripe, and full of chewy tannins, but here Toro has been tamed a bit! Plenty of rich fruit that stays fresh and an easy, silky, texture that flows nicely. As Wine Enthusiast says, it shows "aromas of black currant, raspberry, thyme and violet. Feathery tannins and a nice level of acidity are wrapped around ripe summer cherry, pomegranate, nutmeg, clove and fennel pollen flavors that make for a nice sip."
For You If: You enjoy the complex flavors of Tempranillo with minimal oak and a silky, easy, finish; you're looking for a cookout red that will please a crowd and pair with anything - including a light chill.
Not For You If: You're in the mood for old-school Toro's super-ripe fruit, layered oak, and bold and chewy tannins - all of that has been dialed back here in favor of freshness and easy drinkability.
