This started out as regular red Port, but was allowed to rest in casks for around 20 years – some less, some longer – to take on layers of orange peel, toasted nut and caramel flavors and old Port’s unique “Tawny” color.  Wine Spectator’s 91 point write up of the 2017 bottling is spot on here as well: “Elegant, with toffee, halvah, pistachio and caramel notes that have a perfumy profile as they glide through the hazelnut-edged finish.”

"The NV 20 Year Old Tawny Port (Butler Nephew & Co.) was bottled in 2022 with 127 grams of residual sugar and a long cork. It is a field blend of typical grapes. A much rounder, better balanced wine than the 10, this is delicious, with classic Tawny flavors and a long finish. It tastes great, but it is well structured too."
