Barbera d'Asti can be ligher, fresher and crisper than the heavier take on this grape from Alba. Here careful growing and fermentation in steel plus aging in chestnut gives a super juicy, fresh, and very nearly gluggable example. Big flavors of mixed red berries and cherries with just a touch of wild flower and fresh fig fill your mouth nicely. A touch of grip matches the acidity to make this a terrific pizza, pasta, anything-Italian, red.

For You If:   You're looking for something fresh and flavorful that's not heavy or oaked.

Not For You If:  You're after the firm tannin of Sangiovese or Nebbiolo - this is crisp, fresh and juicy.
