Organic/Bio Cyriaque Rozier’s day job is making the outstanding Languedoc wines of Ch La Roque, but his weekend and evening passion are his small plots of vines near Pic Saint-Loup. Here he’s working with a plot of 50 year-old Cabernet vines on limestone, tended organically and made all in concrete. Big cherry and blackcurrant aromas and flavors expand through a fleshy middle and then finish dry and firm, a bit like Bordeaux. Delicious!
For You If: You like the richness and garrigue earthiness of Languedoc wines and the flavors and aromas of Bordeaux Cabernet; you’re after a terrific cookout red that will shine at white table cloth dinners, too.
Not For You If: You’re looking for the spice, vanilla and smooth and polished tannins of a wine done in oak – this has the chalky grip of an all concrete red.
