Lower ABV If you don’t know Arneis, then this is the perfect introduction to the white grape of Barolo and the sandier vineyards of the Roero hills next door. And if you do know Arneis and are used to paying $20-$25 for a good one, then Collina San Ponzio Roero Arneis may be a bigger revelation still! Because Barolo producer Collina San Ponzio has done something even Arneis benchmark Vietti can’t manage – create a deliciously authentic and high-quality Arneis that sells for under $15.
This is lovely stuff, showing Arneis’s richness of texture and body with a vivid, refreshing, zest. You’ll smell and taste ripe orange melon, tangy peach and late-harvest yellow apple fruit with captivating accents of fresh, ripe, lemon pulp, sliced almonds, sweet spice and just a hint of something floral. Weighty enough to match up with cool nights and fish, poultry and roasted vegetable dishes, it’s crisp and dry enough to simply sip solo. And priced well enough to ship and share often.
