The geography here is complicated, with the vines growing about 40 miles southwest of Geneva in the foothills of the French alps. The blend is distinctive, featuring 20% Pinot Noir, 20% Chardonnay and 60% Jacquere, the main grape of Savoie. But the real story is simple: this is stupid delicious and a smoking value. Loaded with peach and apple fruit given a nutty complexity from the Jacquere and 18 months on the lees after the Champagne-style secondary fermentation. Small bubbles, creamy texture, dry finish, and loads of fun.
For You If: You're after the texture and complexity of sparkling wine made in bottle but with more fruit and fun than normally found in Champagne; you want classy-tasting bubbles at a nice value price.
Not For You If: You're after the red fruit character of a Pinot-dominated Champagne or the smoke/mineral character of fizz from barrel aged base wine - this is crisp, more white fruited, and just a little toasty.
