Organic/Bio What happens when a long-time benchmark Chateauneuf du Pape winemaker (Mont Rendon, La Nerthe) goes home to make wine from his retiring parents vines? One taste of this delicious Cotes du Rhone Villages from Sguret and you're going to think, "Magic!" This is the largest, most important, producer in Seguret (just north along the hill from Gigondas), but seldom sighted by the critics - until now. In his 93 point review, James Suckling called this "A very authentic expression of the Southern Rhone with stacks of black raspberry and blackberry fruit that's not a jot too loud." Which sounds about right to us.
For You If: You enjoy the bold flavors of southern Rhone reds in an easy-to-drink, not at all heavy, package.
Not For You If: You're looking for something thick/dense or heady - this has plenty of volume and density but drinks easily and with grace.
